Vivo’s X500 Pro Max has achieved a single-core Geekbench score exceeding 4,000 points, marking the first public benchmark for its Dimensity 9600 chipset. The results—4,000 points in single-core and 13,000 points in multi-core—were recorded on the phone’s Chinese Satellite Communication variant, which uses the same processor as the upcoming global model.

Both versions rely on the Dimensity 9600, a chip designed for high-end performance with a mixed CPU architecture: three cores running at 3.10GHz, three faster cores at 4.35GHz, and two high-end cores peaking at 4.55GHz. The Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12 GPU handles graphics, though real-world performance will depend on Vivo’s thermal management under heavy loads. The Chinese Satellite Communication variant carries the model number V2602DA, while the standard Chinese version is expected to be labeled V2602A.

The Dimensity 9600’s scores are notable, but they’re just one piece of the puzzle. Vivo has already revealed additional specifications for the X500 Pro Max, including a 6.85-inch BOE Q11 2K display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The device will run Android 17 alongside Vivo’s latest software, OriginOS 7, which the company will officially introduce on September 16. The full X500 series launch is expected to follow roughly a week later.

Fast charging is another key feature, with 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging confirmed. However, the camera system may be the standout element. The primary sensor is a 50MP Sony LYT-838 with a large 1/1.28-inch size and LOFIC technology for improved low-light capture. A second 50MP Sony sensor handles wide-angle shots, while the telephoto lens is particularly bold: a 200MP periscope sensor with an 85mm focal length. Such zoom capability is uncommon in mid-range phones, let alone a flagship device. The 200MP sensor’s high resolution will allow for significant digital zoom without heavy compression, a feature that could appeal to photography enthusiasts.

Additional features include a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, and IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance. The global version, identified by the V2610 model number, shares the same chip as the Chinese variant, which is rare for cross-market devices. This suggests Vivo intends to deliver consistent performance across regions.

The Dimensity 9600’s benchmark results are strong, but real-world performance will depend on software optimization and cooling efficiency. Vivo’s history with high-end processors indicates it will address these areas, but the X500 Pro Max’s camera system—particularly the 200MP periscope lens—could be the deciding factor for consumers. Whether it delivers on those expectations remains to be seen, but the benchmarks provide a solid foundation.

Separately, Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable device with Leica optics continues to generate interest, though its specifications remain under wraps. Meanwhile, Vivo’s global T5 model leaks suggest a focus on compact designs, reinforcing the brand’s diverse portfolio. The T5’s compact form factor contrasts with the X500 Pro Max’s larger display, showcasing Vivo’s ability to cater to different market segments.
