Motorola unveiled the Moto G Max in India, a smartphone designed for long battery life and strong photography. The device features a 7,000mAh battery and a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 600 main camera.
Price and availability
The phone costs ₹27,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. It will be available starting August 20 at noon, exclusively on Flipkart. Customers using Axis or ICICI Bank credit cards get an instant ₹1,000 discount, and a ₹1,000 exchange bonus applies. Color options include Pantone Alaskan Blue, Pantone Malaga, and Pantone Stargazer.
Display and design
The Moto G Max has a 6.72-inch full-HD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and matching touch sampling. Brightness peaks at 1,050 nits, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protects the screen. An IP64 rating provides dust and splash resistance, while Water Touch Technology keeps the display responsive when wet.
A feature called Display Color Boost aims to improve image quality, though details beyond general descriptions remain unclear.
Performance and software
The device runs Hello UI, a custom interface based on Android 16. Motorola committed to two major Android updates and three years of security patches. Inside, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor built on a 4nm process handles tasks, supported by 6GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
A RAM Boost function lets users allocate up to 24GB of virtual RAM by using internal storage. This may help multitasking but could slow performance if storage space runs low.
Camera capabilities
The rear camera setup includes the 50-megapixel Sony sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens covering a 119.5-degree field of view. The front camera uses a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies.
Software enhancements include a 2-in-1 ambient light sensor for better focusing, auto night vision, and AI portrait mode. Additional tools like Adobe Scan, Photo Booth, Super Zoom, and Pro Mode expand functionality. Google Photos integration brings Magic Eraser and Portrait Blur for AI-powered edits.
Budget phones often rely on software processing rather than premium hardware. The LYTIA 600 sensor is solid, but real-world results will depend on Motorola’s tuning and the mid-range chipset.
