Royal Air Maroc, the national carrier of Morocco, will make significant changes to its summer schedule. The airline announced on Monday that it plans to provide more than 6 million seats in the coming months as it prepares for peak summer travel demand.
The oneworld airline will also boost its summer network by offering those seats on 90 routes worldwide. Some aircraft will be chartered from other companies to help the airline achieve its goals.
Operational efficiency and quality of service
As a move to meet strong demand already, the carrier said in a press release that it has strengthened its flight program to most destinations, noting that a good recovery of business travel and tourism characterizes the positive context.
Since various routes that were closed during the COVID-19 crisis have reopened, there has been an uptick in air travel demand. Specifically in the region, the opening of new routes such as Tel Aviv and Dubai has also increased passenger numbers.

“At a time when our sector is recovering a very positive dynamic, making this summer of 2023 a success in terms of operational efficiency and quality of service is a major challenge for all of Royal Air Maroc’s staff.”
Significant international growth
The airline has reportedly made more than 2.3 million seats for flights in Europe available, with 902 weekly flights connecting 11 Moroccan airports to 34 European destinations.
The carrier’s continental network will also be strengthened. As a pan-African airline flying to the African diaspora, its international network will increase to 26 air routes, with 901,800 seats offered. Additionally, 500,000 seats will be provided in North America, and 200,000 seats are set to be offered on routes in the Middle East. The boost represents a 6% and 25% increase, respectively, compared to summer 2019.
New flights added to the network
Between Northern Morocco and Europe, Royal Air Maroc will also strengthen the ten regular routes linking Tangier, Nador and Oujda to European cities with six new direct flights.
Three new flights will be introduced to connect Tangier to Madrid, Barcelona and London, while two direct routes will be added to link Nador to Madrid and Barcelona. Oujda will also see a direct flight to Dusseldorf in western Germany.
With flights connecting large communities of Moroccans to the rest of the world, some routes experience high demand in summer. Royal Air Maroc also confirmed the routes connecting Casablanca to Barcelona, Bologna, Malaga, Madrid, Brussels and Milan will have two flights daily.

The airline also noted that it plans to charter six aircraft from internationally renowned companies to strengthen its resources and its intent to launch its summer flight program in the best conditions.
As the carrier prepares for a significant capacity increase, Addou added that staff are being equipped with the necessary resources to satisfy passenger demands with an improved customer experience.
